Tubes....surprise, surprise

After our appointment with the ENT Specialist, Justin will be getting tubes in both ears. After the past two months of continuous ear pain and problems this is the only thing that will fix the situation. Justin's pediatrician and the ENT doctor were concerned with his hearing and don't want the problems to persist and lead to speach problems.

His surgery will be next Thursday at Children's Hospital. We don't know an exact time yet, but will find out closer to the surgery date. It is a pretty quick surgery and from what I have heard from other parents is that most likely he will wake-up and not even realize anything has been done to him. However, I hope that isn't all true....because I know he is in discomfort and pain and want this to come to an end.....poor little guy.

Please pray that all goes smoothly and he heals quickly.

The surgery itself is only about 10 minutes. My kids have all had them. I highly recommend paying the $40 or so and getting custom ear plugs made. They are much better than the ones you get at Walmart or wherever that you try to mold to the ear yourself. Especially if he will spend anytime at all in the pool.

Take your video camera to the hospital, the cocktail that they will give him to relax him before they take him in will make him be totally goofy and you'll wish you had video of it. I filmed CheyAnn last year when she got her tonsils out with my regular camera's video feature and we still laugh at her every time we watch it.

You will notice an almost immediate improvement in his hearing once he gets the tubes in if he has had any loss at all.

I'm sure he'll do great, but we'll definitly keep in him our thoughts and prayers.
