An Exciting Night 4/11/08

Last night was a very exciting one! As we were playing with Justin in the other room we hear the news break of possible tornadoes in the area, mostly around Marion. However, Jay and I look outside and there was a really strange looking cloud forming in our backyard. As we keep watching this cloud its form kept changing. And sure enough, there was a small funnel cloud that formed in it! The news cast wasn't even talking about severe weather in our area, just rain. We of course were a bit in disbelief but we captured some of it on video. The clouds ended up going right over-top our house after the funnel clouds formed and then disappeared.

Jay sent an email to Ben Gelber on NBC4 and he wanted to see it. So we sent it to him with the video. We thought it may be on the eleven o'clock news, but we haven't seen anything (and probably won't). The video is kind of hard to watch - it is dark afterall. Look at the center of the screen, then you will see a small cloud form (I call this a finger), and then you can see the clouds moving around the sides.

We heard back from Ben Gelber and he thought the video was awesome. He is going to call the National Weather Service to investigate further. There also may be something on the 6 o'clock news today (Saturday). We went out and took some pictures of the damage nearby. The pictures are on Amanda Northern Rd. just before you pull into our subdivision. You can see our house (the dark tan one with ached windows) in the background of several pictures.
